(The Expendables 2 Analysis)

Opening Scene to The Expendables 2

In this opening scene you see a person captured and being tortured in a large open room. You then see three heavily armored vehicles traveling across a dessert to a small factory village, when they reach the small village you see one of them turn there vehicle around and shot the enemy's with an mounted turret which are blocking there way to there objective. After killing most of the enemy one of the vehicles reverse towards the objective because on the back of the vehicle it has a large ram on the back which allows it to destroy any large objects in the way, when breached the vehicle turns back around and continues on wards shooting down enemies. You then see one person in one of the vehicles with a rocket launcher shooting down bulks of enemies in key locations, when one team reaches the end they see a helicopter flying towards them and one of them decides to turn on a motor bike and push it towards the helicopter leading it to crash into it and destroy it. In the final 40 seconds of this clip you see the team split up and make there way into the building killing anyone that is stopping them from reaching the person that is captured.

Camera Shots and Angles

This camera shot is a low angle medium shot of the main vehicle in front, this camera shot is effective as it shows use the vehicle which is being used and how heavily armored it is which suggests that this mission is very important to them and that they want to get it over and done with without any causalities. This camera shot is also effective as it is at an low angle which tell us that it is powerful and important to the scene, as well it has the writing on the front which is 'COMING SOON' which is a cheesy line which are mostly in all action films.

This camera shot is a close up of the front of the vehicle, this is effective as it has a metal ramming block on the front of the vehicle which suggests that it can do a lot of damage if this hits anything, which then suggests that it is going to be used to break down heavy walls or barricades. This camera shot is also effective as it has a cheesy line on the ramming block which says 'KNOCK KNOCK' which suggests that is is going to be used to break down walls or barricades. Another reason why this camera shot is effective is because it shows you a small glimpse of one of the characters in the film.

This camera shot is a over the shoulder shot which shows a bad guy controlling a helicopter with a motor bike in mid air making its way towards the helicopter. This is effective because it gives you an idea of what the person in the helicopter is looking at and and also makes the viewer feel like they are in the helicopter with the person while the motor bike is coming towards him. This camera shot is also effective as it shows you a small glimpse of the two characters in the background of the shot which allows the viewer to get a small idea of what they look like.
