180 Degree Rule
The 180 degree rule is where the camera stays the same side of an imaginary line, which means the camera must always be on one side of the line. For example if you have two people talking to each other you would film them on the same side because if you film one person from the front and the other from the back it will look like they are talking to each other which will then confuse the audience.
30 Degree rule
The 30 degree rule is a basic editing technique which is used in films, the camera should move at least 30 degrees between shots of the same subject.
Cross Cutting
Cross cutting is used after you create a series of scenes or sequences, which you then re-order them to create a scene that goes forwards and backwards in time.
Match Cutting
Match cutting is a method that is used by directors in editing to create a relationship between two different objects to create a visual metaphor. Which is a cut within a scene that makes it more sense.
Shot Reverse Shot
Shot reverse shot is filming technique where one camera is looking at one character speaking and then the camera changes to the other character looking back at the first character. This will allow the viewer to assume that they are looking and talking to each other.
Rule of Third
Rule of third is applied by aligning a subject with the guide lines and their intersection points. This allows linear features in the image to flow from section to section.
