Institution research examples

Film institution is any company or organisation which produces or exhibits films, for example Universal, Columbia Pictures and Lionsgate.


20th Century Fox Films/Television was founded in May 1935 by Darryl F Zanuck and Joseph M Schenck. It is a company that has produced the films Deadpool, Avatar, Ice Age and Fantastic Mr.Fox.

Columbia Pictures was founded in January 1924 by Joe Brandt, Jack Cohn and Harry Cohn. It is also a company that has produced films like Grown Ups, The Karate kid and Ghost Rider. 


Lionsgate was founded in July 1997 by Frank Giustra. This company has produced The Hunger Games series, The Day After Tomorrow and the Saw franchise.


Miramax Films was founded in 1979 by Bob Weinstein and Harvey Weinstein. This company produced the films Pulp Fiction, The Kill Bill series and Finding Neverland.


Paramount Pictures was founded in May 1912 by Jesse L Lasky, William W Hodkinson and Adolph Zukor. This company produced the films Forrest Gump, the Transformers series and Iron Man.


Universal Studios was founded in April 1912 by William Swanson, Jules Brulatour, Charles O Baumann, Mark Dintenfass, Carl Laemmle, Adam Kessel, Pat Powers and David Horsley. This company produced the films Jurassic World, the Despicable Me series and Jaws.
