Certification research


Discrimination- Aggressive language or behaviour is unlikely to be acceptable unless clearly condemned.
Drugs- Must be infrequent and should not be glamorised
Imitable behaviour- No glamorisation or realistic or easily accessible weapons such as knives
Language- There may be moderate language but must not appear frequently 
Nudity- Sexual context must be brief and discreet
Sex- Sexual activity must be brief and discreetly portrayed
Threat- May be moderate physical and psychological threat and horror sequences
Violence- May be moderate violence but it should not dwell on detail, no emphasis on injuries or blood
Discrimination- Must not endorse discriminatory language or behaviour, although there may be racist, homophobic or other discriminatory themes and language
Drugs- Highly dangerous substances is unlikely to be acceptable
Imitable behaviour- Dangerous behaviour should not dwell on detail which could be copied
Language- There may be strong language, very strong language may be permitted depending on the manner in which it is used 
Nudity- There may be nudity in a sexual context but usually without strong detail
Sex- There may be strong verbal references to sexual behaviour but very strong references are unlikely to be acceptable unless justified by context 
Threat- There may be strong threat and horror, a sustained focus on sadistic or sexual threat is unlikely to be accepted
Violence- May be strong but should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury, strong gory images and sadistic violence is unlikely to be accepted


Discrimination- No one younger than 18 may see an 18 film in a cinema
Sex- Explicit images and scenes may be permitted
Nudity- Usually not censored 
Language- Strong language is permitted
Drugs- Drug abuse is permitted
Violence- Strong and graphic violence is permitted
Threat- Material that is in breach of the criminal law
